Space for x number of dogs

Posted March 12th, 2010 by
For reasons that may or may not become clear at some point in the future, I’m curious for others opinions on how you judge how much space you have for dogs in your house. I think we all know or know of someone in a tiny house with one or more big dogs, or just lots of small ones. What’s your way of working it out? Simple floor space? Bounciness of the canines in question? Is it a problem when you start tripping over dogs? OH has declared we have room for two dogs in our current house. I’m not sure how he’s come to that conclusion, since that takes no account of individual temperaments, sizes, etc. I’m sure he’d say no to a great dane or a mastiff, but, for instance, two chihuahuas would take up less than half the floor space Chloe does, yet I’m pretty sure he’d say no to trading ChloChlo in for two chis (and not just because he loves Chloe). IMO, the house was less crowded when we had Ellie and Zack than now with Chloe and Zack, even though Ellie is a good 3 times bigger than Chloe, just because Ellie was docile and calm, and her and Zack didn’t bicker or play noisily together.
