Space for x number of dogs

For reasons that may or may not become clear at some point in the future, I’m curious for others opinions on how you judge how much space you have for dogs in your house. I think we all know or know of someone in a tiny house with one or more big dogs, or just lots of small ones. What’s your way of working it out? Simple floor space? Bounciness of the canines in question? Is it a problem when you start tripping over dogs? OH has declared we have room for two dogs in our current house. I’m not sure how he’s come to that conclusion, since that takes no account of individual temperaments, sizes, etc. I’m sure he’d say no to a great dane or a mastiff, but, for instance, two chihuahuas would take up less than half the floor space Chloe does, yet I’m pretty sure he’d say no to trading ChloChlo in for two chis (and not just because he loves Chloe). IMO, the house was less crowded when we had Ellie and Zack than now with Chloe and Zack, even though Ellie is a good 3 times bigger than Chloe, just because Ellie was docile and calm, and her and Zack didn’t bicker or play noisily together.

training issues for over excited 14 month lab – any advice appreciated!

Firstly hello, am really glad to have found this website. I’ve got some ‘issues’ with my lovely, but easily over excited lab & hope that someone has some suggestions, as its driving me nuts!

Indoors & when we are out on our own he is pretty well behaved, comes back, waits for food, sits & lies down on command; however the sight of another person or worse another dog sends him into such a frenzy he becomes completly uncontrollable when we’re out. At home he doesn’t jump up even at visitors, but when out given a chance he’ll leaps at others.

Its such a shame because he’s a really happy, friendly thing & loves tearing around (he has a huge amount of energy & we’ve really been unable to tire him out, despite taking him up various mountains off the lead!!!). But i don’t feel that i can let him off the lead anymore untill some of these issues are resolved.

All sugestions much appreciated. Thanks

what else do your dogs like to eat?

Don’t know if you’ve had this discussion before but I’m curious – what fruit and veg do your dogs like, and what other stuff? Darwin (cavalier) likes apples, banana, carrot and for the ‘other’ guinea pig poop and cardboard, which he would eats loads of if I let him. Is it harmful for them to eat cardboard or is it just roughage?
